1966, protopunk from the Netherlands with whacky lyrics. The band is tight and full of fuzz though, and doesn’t sound like anything available back then. I love this so much that I made the intro my custom ringtone.
It is fun to read back through my posts here and discover that I really hadn’t discovered much of Zappa’s work yet. The Roxy era is my favorite; he had the best band and judging the video performances I saw, he had the most fun. This is one of the earliest versions of Cosmik Debris; much more bluesy than the studio one.
Queens of the Stone Age singer Josh Homme, Foo Fighter’s singer Dave Grohl, and Led Zeppelin bass player John Paul Jones teamed up in this band. This song has some weird timing
Weird Al has got his reputation from doing covers of well known songs with hilarious lyrics, mostly about food. But he does some very good pastiches as well; original songs in the style of a certain artist. This one is done like it’s a Pixies song. I love it!
Dutch band Hallo Venray is one of the reasons I even play music and started writing my own songs. Founded in 1985, they are still active and this short sharp song is from their last album, Show.
I am not really a Queens of the Stone Age fan though I really should be. I like Josh Homme’s attitude (when he is not posing as a baddie that is) and his side projects a lot.
This song for me stands out as a really excellent song and I found I was humming it constantly today.
Caesar’s best known song in Holland, apparently because of the line “Life gets so much easier when you’re stoned”. I like it a lot because of the frenzied drumming during and after the chorus; it’s the way I would like to drum, if I only could spend more time practicing…
